HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009-05-19 Minutes I-6 CLARINGTON HERITAGE COMMITTEE Minutes of Meeting No. 5 May 19 , 2009 MEMBERS PRESENT: Karina Isert Karin Murphy David Reesor Victor Suppan James Rook Duane Cook Andrew Kozak Leslie Wilson REGRETS: Paul Allore Councillor Mary Novak GUESTS: William Calver Dineen- Leger PLANNING STAFF: Isabel Little Annette Van Dyk PRESENTATION OF ONTARIO HERITAGE TRUST CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT William Calver attended the meeting and was presented with a certificate of achievement for his contribution to the preservation of the cultural heritage of the Municipality. MINOR VARIANCE APPLICATION (A2009-0008) Dineen Leger attended the meeting and indicated that she has purchased 1486 Concession Road 7 and would like to demolish the existing building and build a new house.. A minor variance application has been filed in regards to the minimum separation distance from the proposed new house and livestock facilities on neighbouring properties. Pictures of the building were provided for review. The house has been vacated for a number of years and is in a state of disrepair. It has not been recorded in the inventory of heritage resources. There are a few original windows and doors remaining but it is unknown if they are salvageable. At the end of the meeting the CHC passed the following motion: MOTION 09.13 Moved by James Rook, Seconded by Andrew Kozak THAT the Heritage Committee has no objection to the demolition of 1486 Concession Road 7, Darlington. We respectfully request the owner elicits qualified personnel to remove salvageable architectural features of the home such as: all original windows and original door surrounds "CARRIED" ADOPTION OF MINUTES: MOTION 09.11 Moved by James Rook, seconded by Karin Murphy THAT the minutes from April 21, 009 be accepted. "CARRIED" BUSINESS ARISING: 71 Old Kingston Road Leslie Wilson will prepare a statement of cultural heritage value and interest following the format provided by the Ministry of Culture's regulations. This statement will be required should the building be recommended for designation. CORRESPONDENCE The Committee received a letter from Clerks Department that 19 '/2-23 and 33 King Street West: have been added to the Municipal Registry. FINANCIAL REPORT: March 26 Opening Balance $5935.18 March 31 Interest .25 April 24 Closing Balance 5935.43 MOTION 09.12 Moved by Andrew Kozak, seconded by Karin Murphy THAT the financial report be accepted. "CARRIED" SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS: 407 Committee Meeting was cancelled. Orono CIP Next meeting is July 8, 2009 Newcastle CIP Jenny Barrett from the Newcastle Horticultural Society gave a presentation on their proposed landscape improvement to the Newcastle Community Hall property. MTO's policy on signage along the 401 was reviewed. Sheila Hall informed the group that she is researching the 2 potential for implementing a Rural Economic Development Program. The next meeting is July 23. PROJECT REPORTS: Inventorv Update David and Karin have worked up to the Clarke Townline. They have a few more properties to review in Orono after which they will be finished until the fall. Website This will be a summer project for Andrew. NEW BUSINESS: A review of the Beech Avenue Heritage Conservation District: will. start in the next month. The HCD Advisory Committee will meet and there will be a meeting held with the residents. Mike Hubicki will attend the June meeting to discuss landscaping along the 407. Members of the 407 Advisory Committee will be invited to attend.
