PROPOSED REVISIONS
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee
recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report PD-144-87 be received; and
2. THAT the Region of Durham be advised that the Town of Newcastle has no objections
to the deletion of that portion of Block 72 as illustrated on Plan 18T-86038, more
particularly described as Part 2 on Plan 10R-1284; and
3. THAT a copy of Staff Report PD-144-87 be forwarded to the Region of Durham.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
On Nlay 5, 1987 the Planning Department received notice that a request for a red-lined
revision to the draft plan of subdivision had been submitted to the Region of Durham fo r
consideration and approval. The proposed revision would delete the most westerly 50
metres of Block 72 as shown on draft plan of subdivision 18T-86038.

Staff would note that, within the conditions of draft approval as previously
issued, Block 72 was noted as a block for future development. Accordingly,
Staff would have no objections to the deletion of the most westerly portion
of the block noting that, inasmuch as the property fronts a Regional road,
any requirements for widenings would require the concurrence of the Region
of Durham Works Department. Additionally, it is noted that the deletion of
the most westerly portion of Block 72 would not appear to adversely affect
the ability to develop the additional lands adjacent to Plan 18T-86038.
Accordingly and in consideration of the above-noted comments, Staff would
have no objection to the request and proposed revision to Block 72 on Plan
18T-86038.
