WEiFg_F,AS the Council of the Corporation of the 2`ownship of Darlington
hsa in accordance with The Municipal Act considered the estimates of the
municipality and of the F3oards and Commissions of the municipality and it is
necessary that the following, estimates be raised by means of taxation for
the year 1950,

AND h~fH':REAS the amount of assessment entitled to benefit, hereinafter
referred to as residential and farm, and the amount of assessment not entitled
to benefit, hereinafter referred to as Carraercial~ of Unconditional Grants in
a^cordance with Sections 308 and 311 of The Municipal Act, R.S,O, 1950, as
emended by The Municipal Amendaent Act 1957, is as follows:

1, THAT the above estimates be adopted and levied therefor in the manner
as set out hereinafter, and, there shall be levied and collected upon the assessable
lands, buildings and businesses within the Corporation of the Township of Darlington

2. The sum of 910,000, shall be set aside as a provision for reserves,

6, The Collector is hereby empowered to receive payments of taxes in
advance of the date upon which the instalment becomes due, and to allow a discount
of 3t4 in the case of the second instalment, if paid on or before June 1st of the
year in which the said instalment falls due.
7, All current taxes shall be paid at the office of the collector, or at the
Bank of Montreal in Bovnnanville or Oshawa, provided that when taxes are paid at
the said Banks the Bank may collect a fee of 10 cents per payment from the i
taxpayer.
g, Where a tenant of lands, owned by the Crown or in which the Crown
has an interest, has been employed either within or outside the municope~i~o the
the same employer for not less than 30 days, such employer shall pay
collector on demand out of any wages, salaries, or other remuneration due to such
employee, the amount then payable for taxes under this by-law and any such
payment shall relieve the employer from any liability to the employee for the
amount paid,
The collector and treasurer are hereby empowered to accept part payment

from time to time on account of any taxes due,
10, This by-law shall come into force and effect upon the date of the
final reading thereof.

Please be advised that expenditures in exeees of either
the construction or rn~ intenance limits will not be eligible for subsidy
unless covered by a supplementary by-law approved by the Minister.
This approval is given subject to the approval of each
individual work of road and bridge construction, each contract for
maintenance and the purchase of each unit of equipment, The District
Municipal Engineer must be advised and his consent obtained before
such works or purchases are advertised or tenders called or any
commitment made by the township with respect to them.
In the event that any portion of the coat of the proposed
work or purchase is to be raised is a subsequent year or financed by
the issue of debentures, the approval of the Ontario Municipal Board
must be obtained before the work or purchase is authorized or any
commitment made with respect thereto.
One copy of the by-law as approved is returned herewith.

A BY-LAW TO PROVIDE FOR THE 18_60__ EXPENDITURES ON ROADS IN THE
COUNTY
TOWNSHIP OF- ~~xgt°_?~ _____-__ IN THE OF_____??~?~ __-___-____
WHEREAS The Highway Improvement Act requires that the total expendi-
ture on roads be provided for annually by by-law and that the by-law be submitted to
the Minister of Highways for approval.
THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the said Township enacts as
follows:
(1) The sum of $ 130~000,00_____is hereby estimated as the expenditure
upon the construction and maintenance of the roads and bridges under its jurisdiction
during the year 19__60_ as follows:

(2) The said monies shall be expended under the supervision of the duly
appointed township road superintendent and on work performed in accordance with
The Highway Improvement Act.
(3) The clerk shall transmit duplicate copies of this by-law to the district
office of the Municipal Roads Branch, Department of Highways, not later than
March 31st of the said year.
(4) The approval of the Ontario Municipal Board shall be obtained before
any expenditure is authorized or work commenced which will be financed by the
issue of debentures or monies raised in a subsequent year.
