Subject: SOUTH COURTICE EMPLOYMENT AREA SECONDARY PLAN
PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING
FILE: PLN 32.4.8
~~~ot~n~vt~nti~~sr
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report PD-106 -93 be received;
2. THAT the Draft South Courtice Employment Area Secondary Plan
be referred back to Staff for further processing and a
subsequent Public Meeting report at such time the plan is
ready to be adopted by Council; and
3. THAT the interested parties listed in this report and any
delegation be advised of Council's decision.
1. The purpose of this report is to provide an opportunity for
public input with respect to the Draft "South Courtice
Employment Area Secondary Plan". The proposed policy document
impacts lands north of Highway 401, west of Courtice Road
(Regional Road #34) , south of Bloor Street (Regional Road #22)
and east of Prestonvale Road.
2. In January of 1992 Council authorized the undertaking of a
Secondary Plan for the Employment Area lands in south
Courtice. Macauley Shiomi Howson Ltd. was retained to
undertake the study in association with Stephen Chait
Consultants Ltd., R. V. Anderson Associates Limited and Dance
Environmental Inc. A Public Information Session for the study
was held on June 25, 1992 and the Backaround and Options
report were finalized in July of 1992. ....2
REPORT NO. PD-106 -93 PAGE 2
The study was initiated, in part, through the expansion of the
Courtice Urban Area in the 1991 Durham Region Official Plan
and the commitment of land owners within the study area to
have a secondary plan prepared for the subject lands.
3. The consultant has now finalized the 'draft' Courtice South
Employment Area Secondary Plan policies. Copy of same has
been forwarded to members of Council under separate cover. A
copy of the Draft Secondary Plan is being circulated to a
number of ministerial agencies and regional and local
municipal departments for review and comment.
4 The subject Public Meeting has been scheduled to advise
members of Council, affected land owners and the public of the
'draft' policies and provide opportunity for input on said
document. The statutory Public Meeting as required by the
Planning Act will be advertised and held prior to Council
adopting secondary plan policies for the subject area. It is
recommended that the document be referred back to Staff for
further review and a subsequent report upon receipt of all
agency comments and required revisions.
Respectfully submitted, Recommended for presentation
to the Committee
