It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report PD-29-93 be received for information.
REPORT:
1.1 The attached charts indicate statistical information pertaining to
By-law Enforcement activitites for the period October 1, 1992 to
December 31, 1992 and is provided herein for the information of
Committee and Council.
COMI~iENTS
2.1 Since October 1, 1992 the By-law Enforcement Division has attended
Court on eight occasions for first appearance matters, prosecutions
and appeals. During this time a total of 35 charges were dealt
with. These resulted in 30 convictions, 4 withdrawn at the request
of the Town and 1 dismissed by the Justice of the Peace.
Approximately 20 cases are still awaiting trials or first
appearances.

2.2 Charges were withdrawn for a variety of reasons. In two cases
involving parking tickets laid by the Regional Police, the officers
were unavailable for Court. The remaining two were withdrawn
because subsequent investigation showed the charges to be
unwarranted.
