Subject; PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO SKATEBOARD BY-LAW
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report PD-165-92 be received;
2. THAT the attached amendment to the Skateboard By-law be
passed.
REPORT
1.1 The current By-law regulating skateboarding was passed in 1989.
The By-law prohibits the use of skateboards in areas specified in
the Schedules attached to the By-law. In 1990, an amendment was
made to the By-law extending the prohibited areas to include
parts of Orono and Newcastle Village.
1.2 Since that time staff have received a number of complaints and
requests from residents in Orono to have the prohibited area in
Orono extended to include parts of Church, Park, Centre and
farther south on King Street.
1.3 On April 21, 1992 Council directed staff to review the situation
in Orono and to report back.
1.4 After reviewing the problem staff recommend that the prohibited
area for skateboarding in Orono be extended to include Church
Street, Park Street, Centre Street and more of Main Street as
shown in the Schedule.

BY-LAW 92
being a By-law to amend By-law 90-61
WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle deems it necessary to amend
By-law 90-61 regulating the use of skateboards within the limits of the Town of Newcastle; and
WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle, pursuant to the Municipal
Act R.S.O. 1990, Chapter M46, Section 207, Subsection 42, has authority to enact such a By-law;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Corporation of the Town of
Newcastle enacts as follows:
1. By-law 90-61 is hereby amended by deleting Schedule "B" and replacing it with
a new Schedule "B" hereto attached and forming part of this By-law;
2. This By-law shall come' into force and take effect on the date of its enactment.
