RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That Report TR-96-90 be received;
2. That Raglan Industries Inc., Oshawa, Ontario, with a
total bid of $27,648.00, being the lowest responsible
bidder meeting all terms, conditions and specifications
of Tender NW90-44, be awarded the contract to supply
and deliver one (1) only Stake Body with Telescopic
Hoist and Crane to the Town of Newcastle as required
by the Department of Community Services; and
3. That the required funds be drawn from the approved 1990
Community Services Capital budget, Account
#7603-00001-0504.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and invited for the supply and
delivery of one (1) only Stake Body with Telescopic Hoist and Crane,
as required by the Department of Community Services.

Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as follows:

The required funds will be drawn from the approved 1990 Community
Services Capital budget, Account #7603-00001-0504, from which there
are adequate funds available.
This is reflected in the Capital budget as a Stake/Dump/Crane, page
172, Item #15. The budgeted cost on this equipment is $70,000.00; a
portion of which is covered by Tender NW90-44. The additional
equipment was covered by a previously approved Tender NW90-35, in the
amount of $31,814.64.
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding and concurs with the
recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs,
specifications, etc., should be referred to the Director of Community
Services.
After further review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing and
Community Services, it was mutually agreed that the low bid from
Raglan Industries Inc., Oshawa, Ontario, be recommended for the tender
award. The subject firm have previously provided satisfactory service
for the Town of Newcastle.
