RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That Report TR-93-90 be received;
2. That 560789 Ontario Ltd., Guelph, Ontario, with a bid
in the amount of $31,800.00 being the lowest
responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions and
specifications of Tender NW90-39, be awarded the
contract, forthwith, for Soper Creek Erosion, as
required by the Department of Community Services;
3. That the funds in the amount of $30,000.00 be drawn
from the Community Services Capital Budget, Account
#7603-00001-0516; and
4. That the additional funds in an approximate amount
of $1,800.00 be drawn from the Community Services Lot
Levy Account #1110-00156-X.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and issued for Soper Creek
Erosion, as required by the Department of Community Services.

Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as follows:

The total budget allocation for this project is $30,000.00, as
reflected on page 191 of the Capital budget. It is therefore,
proposed that the additional funds required in an approximate
amount of $1,800.00 be drawn from the Community Services Lot Levy
Account #1110-00156-X. Note, the total required funds of
$31,800.00 are an approximate cost only based on an estimated
quantity of 60 linear meters of armour stone required. Should
the actual quantity required be more or less than 60 meters, the
price will be adjusted accordingly.
Due to the approaching winter season and the leadtime required
for the contractor to order the necessary materials, a forthwith
approval is requested.
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs
with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department
needs, specifications, etc., should be referred to the Director
of Community Services.
After further review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing and
Community Services, it was mutually agreed that 560789 Ontario
Ltd., Guelph, Ontario, be recommended for the contract for Soper
Creek Erosion.

SOPER CREEK EROSION
Although the subject firm have not previously performed for the
Town of Newcastle, they have provided satisfactory service for
the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority.
