TENDER NW90-40, CONSTRUCTION OF SALT SHED
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That Report TR-92-90 be received;
2. That Bowman Construction Ltd., Bowmanville, Ontario,
with a bid in the amount of $37,800.00, being the
lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions
and specifications of Tender NW90-40, be awarded the
contract for Construction of a Salt Shed, as required
by the Department of Public Works; and
3. That the funds be drawn from the Public Works Capital
budget, Account #7212-01002-0261.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and issued for the Construction
of a Salt Shed, as required by the Department of Public Works.

Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as follows:

The tender submissions from partak Limited and Ken Langford were
rejected as an "Agreement to Bond", as stipulated in the
specifications was not submitted. In accordance with the
Purchasing By-Law #82-96, failure to submit this documentation
will result in tender rejection.
The required funds in the amount of $37,800.00 will be drawn from
the Department of Public Works Capital Budget, account
#7212-01002-0261 and are within the total budget allocation of
$50,000.00, as reflected on page 25 of the Capital budget.
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding and concurs with the
recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs,
specifications, etc., should be referred to the Director of
Public Works.
After further review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing and
Public Works, it was mutually agreed that Bowman Construction
Ltd., Bowmanville, Ontario, be recommended for the contract for
the Construction of a Salt Shed.

Although, the subject firm have not recently performed for the
Town of Newcastle, they have satisfactorily completed several
projects in the Newcastle/Oshawa area and are highly recommended
by the references provided.
