BOWMANVILLE MUSEUM
REQUEST FOR CAPITAL REIMBURSEMENT
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That report TR-66-90 be received; and
2. That the Bowmanville Museum request for the cost submitted towards
the restoration of the Museum's belvedere be approved; and
3. That the funds requested totalling $4,600.16 (as per attached
letter) be drawn from the Bowmanville Museum Capital Reserve Fund.
4. That Ellen Logan, Secretary/Treasurer of the Bowmanville Museum be
advised of Council's actions.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:
Correspondence dated June 28, 1990 was received from Ellen Logan, Secretary /
Treasurer for the Bowmanville Museum requesting funds towards the restor.ation
of the Bowmanville Museum's belvedere.

The Rotary Club of Bowmanville has donated $5,000 for the restoration of the
belvedere (rooftop room) in the Museum. The Bowmanville Museum Board has
accepted the estimate presented from Restorama at a cost of $9,600.16 and
therefore has committed the funds.
The Bowmanville Museum Board was made aware that all Capital requests are
subject to Council's prior review and approval as a result of report TR-99-89
(reimbursement for the cost of reshingling the Museum roof totalling $3,995).
However due to the nature of the request and the donors preference to be
identified with a specific part of the Museum renovation, staff recommends
approval of the request.
This project is separate from Phase One of the renovation of the Bowmanville
Museum building estimated at $100,000 and detailed on page 287 of the approved
1990 Capital Budget. The 1990 Reserve Fund Contribution toward this project is
earmarked at $50,000 and the projected uses of this Reserve Fund as approved
in principle through the Four Year Capital Forecast would suggest that the
expenditure could be supported. The Balance in the Reserve Fund is $112,019
and this includes the 1990 budgeted transfer of $15,000 into the Reserve Fund.
Respectfully submitted,
Recommended for presentation
to the Committee
Marie A. Marano,
Treasurer.

The Bowmanville Museum has received a donation of $5,000.00 from the

chose Restorama's estimate (copy enclosed) of $9,600.16.
We request that the remaining $4,600.16 be received from the Museum's
