QUOTATION Q90-5,. ONE (1) ONLY OUTDOOR DISPLAY SIGN,
BOWMANVILLE RECREATION COMPLEX
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It 1S respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That Report TR-40-90 be received;
2. That Steel Art Signs Ltd., Markham, Ontario, with a
total bid of $14,052.99, being the lowest responsible
bidder meeting all terms, conditions and specifications
of Quotation Q90-5, be awarded the contract to supply,
deliver and install one (1) only Outdoor Display Sign,
to the Town of Newcastle as required by the Department
of Community Services; and
3. That the required funds be drawn from the Community
Services Lot Levy, Account #1110-00156-X.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Quotations were issued and invited for the supply, delivery and
installation of one (1) only Outdoor Display Sign at the
Bowmanville Recreation Complex as required by the Department of
Community Services.

Subsequently, quotations were received and tabulated as follows:

The required funds have been carried over from the 1989 approved
Capital Budget and are being held in the Community Services Lot
Levy, Account #1110-00156-X. The total bid amount is within the
$15,000.00 allocated. in the 1989 Capital Budget (page #159).
For the information of Council, two (2) of the other firms
invited to submit a quotation, indicated they were able to meet
the quotation specification, however, they simply forgot to
submit their bid by the stipulated closing date.
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs
with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department
needs, specifications, etc., should be referred to the Director
of Community Services.
After further review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing and
Community Services, it was mutually agreed that the bid from
Steel Art Signs Ltd., Markham, Ontario, be recommended for the
tender award. The subject firm have not previously provided
service for the Town of Newcastle, however, they have
satisfactorily provided signs Canada wide to Canadian Tire
Corporation. The subject firm have provided staff with a colour
graphic of the proposed sign.
