Res. # By-Law # fffTI f{]: DATE: ~T #: SUBJ::CT : GENERAL PURPOSE & ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE May 7, 1990 TR-36-90 FILE #: REQUEST FOR GRANT - ST. JOHN'S AMBULANCE SOCIETY RECOw.1ENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend to Council the following: 1. That report TR-36-90 be received; 2. St. John's Ambulance Society be granted an additional amount of $1500.00 as part of the 1990 municipal grant process; 3. That the funds be drawn from the contingency; account # 7007-X-298; 4. That Mr. Bill Clarke, be so advised; and 5. That the St. John's Ambulance Society be requested to re-evaluate their grant requirements for the 1991 budget year. BACKGROUND & COMMENTS: Mr. Bill Clarke of the St. John's Ambulance Agency, appeared as a delegation at the Council meeting of April 30th, 1990 to substantiate the need for the Council to reconsider the amount of the grant recommended to Council by the N.C.S.A.B. during the 1990 Budget process. . . .2 734 TR-36-90 Paqe 2 The initial grant request was $2000.00. It was the recommendation of the N.C.S.A.B. that only $500.00 be awarded since there was a possibility of other sources of funding for this Agency. Council directed, at this meeting, that reconsideration be given to the 1990 Budget grant request with the understanding that this would be an exception given the budget direction by Council to re- evaluate the grant process and its application to relevant affiliates. It is therefore recommended that the Society's original request be honoured. St. John's Ambulance Respectfully submitted, Recommended for presentation to the Committee, &UI~ Marie A.
