RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the. General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. That Report TR-2-90 be received;
2. That Guyett Electric, Bowmanville, Ontario, with bid prices of
$ 28.00 per hour for Journeyman Electrician and $ 14.00 per
hour for Journeyman Electrician's Helper be awarded the
contract to provide Electrical Services, as required, by the
Town of Newcastle for 1990; and
3. That the funds expended be drawn from the various 1990 Current
Budget Accounts.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and invited to provide Electrical
Services as required by the Town of Newcastle for 1990.
Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as per Schedule "A"
attached.
The bid prices represents a seventeen percent (17%) increase in

the Journeyman Electrician rate over the 1990 contract prices. There was
no price increase for the 1989 contract. The required funds will be
drawn from the various 1990 Current Budget Accounts.
For the information of Council, the Town of Newcastle spent approximately
$27,000.00 for Electrical Services during 1989.
After further review and analysis of the bids by Purchasing, Public Works
and Community Services, it is respectfully recommended that Guyett
Electric, Bowmanville, Ontario, be awarded the contract to provide
Electrical Services to the Town of Newcastle as required.
The subject firm has worked satisfactorily for the Town of Newcastle in
the past year.
