BACKGROUND 1. t Our report covers the month of March, 1996. It is our intent to provide Committee with information relevant to this department, in a timely manner. 2: REPORT 2.1 .The. department responded to 124 calls in March and recorded total fire loss at $322,000. A breakdown of the calls responded to follows. This house was the home of Mr. A. Henning who, I regret to report, did not survive the fire. It was determined that the cause of the fire was accidental. 2.3 Captain Trent Elyea resigned from the department March 28, 1996. Mr. Elyea has accepted the position of Deputy Fire Chief with the City of Orillia. On behalf of the Municipality, we congratulated Mr. Elyea on his success and expressed our good wishes for his future endeavours. 2.4 As a result of the vacancy created by Mr. Elyea's resignation, Firefighter Gary Oliver was promoted to the position of Fire Captain. We look forward to working with Mr. Oliver in his position as Fire Captain. Continued.... 802 FD-11-96 -3- 3.
