E., NEWCASTLE FIRE CALL -APARTMENT BUILDING, 5367 MAIN ST., ORONO Recommendatlonss It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend to Council the following: THAT report FD-4-96 be received for information. 1. BACKGROUND 1.1 At the General Purpose and Administration Committee meeting of January 22, 1996 staff was requested to update Council on the fires that occurred at the above-headed locations. 2. COMMENTS 2.1 Reports have been received from the Ontario Fire Marshal's investigators who were. present at these fires. 2.2 The findings in both cases were that the fires were deliberately set by person or persons unknown. 2.3 These findings are passed onto the police department and any further investigation becomes their responsibility. It is our understanding these files remain open and active with the Durham Regional Police. 2.4 If any charges are laid in the future, with regard to these fires, the Fire Department will be advised as supporting information may be required.
