The meeting commenced without a quorum being present.
1. ADOPTION OF MINUTES
The adoption of the minutes is referred to the next meeting.
2. ITEMS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
a) Courtice Lions Millennium Trail
Report EGD-49-06 of the Director of Engineering Services with respect to the
Courtice Millennium Trail Collaborative Agreement was distributed.
b) Readers’ Choice Awards
Pat Rundle forwarded correspondence advising that the Reader’s Choice
Awards included categories for the Most Accessible Restaurant, Shopping,
Entertainment, etc. only in the Oshawa/Whitby version of the newspaper.
Hopefully this category will be included in the Clarington paper next year.
c) Gas Station Accessibility
The Chair advised that Sunoco has a policy whereby patrons displaying
disabled permits in their vehicles are entitled to self-serve prices at the full-
serve pumps. Esso and Shell have the same policy in effect. Discussion
ensued as to the possibility of having the Provincial government pass
legislation requiring gas stations to provide one full-serve pump for persons
with disabilities.

3. NEW BUSINESS
a) Press Event – Dedication of Picnic Tables
This event will be planned for early November.
b) Article on Issues That We Face Within Our Committees
The local press is interested in running an article early in the new year
addressing accessibility issues. The issue of gas station accessibility could
be addressed at this time.
c) Get Active – Get Healthy
Information regarding this workshop was distributed.
d) Reduced Fare Transit Pass for ODSP Recipients
Report 2006-DRT-29 from Ted Galinis, General Manager, Durham Region
Transit was distributed.
e) Barrier-Free Paths of Travel
Information regarding barrier-free paths of travel was distributed.
5. DATE OF NEXT MEETING
The next meeting is scheduled to be held on November 1, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. in
Meeting Room 1A at the Municipal Administrative Centre.
