Vice Chairperson, Andre O'Bumsawin called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm

There were no pecuniary interests stated for this meeting
3. Applications
3.1 A2018-0037 Applicant/Owner: Deborah Dorion and Andrea Campbell
147 Queen Street, Bowmanville
Part Lots 12 and 13, Concession 1
Former Township of Darlington
The applicants, Deborah and Andrea made a verbal presentation to the Committee
regarding the application. The explanation for the proposed variance was similar to what
was outlined in the report prepared for this application.
There were no questions from the Committee or members of the public in objection or
support.
Moved by John Bate, Seconded by Gord Wallace.
"Based on our review of the application, all verbal comments received and the agency
comments submitted, the application is deemed minor in nature, is considered desirable
for the appropriate development and use of the land and maintains the general intent
and purpose of the Zoning By-law and the Official Plans.
The application to permit a residential use in addition to a professional at 147 Queen
Street, Bowmanville is approved."

3.2 A2018-0039 Applicant/Owner: Ken DeVries
231 Sunset Boulevard, Newcastle
Part Lot 29, Concession 1
Former Village of Newcastle
The applicant, Ken DeVries, made a verbal presentation to the Committee regarding the
application. The explanation for the proposed variance was similar to what was outlined
in the report prepared for this application. Ken explained his intent is to have space for
vehicles and chairs currently stored outside.
Andre O'Bumsawin questioned staff whether the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) had
been circulated with regard to the application. Shahzad Mir replied that staff were not
given direction to circulate the minor variance application to the MTO. Amanda Tapp
further stated that the MTO would be notified through the building permitting process.
The applicant stated that he had applied and acquired an approved MTO permit to
construct the detached garage.
Moved by James Vinson, Seconded by Gord Wallace.

The application to permit the construction of a detached garage (accessory building) by
increasing the maximum permitted floor area from 60 square metres to 76 square
metres approved."

4. Adoption of Minutes of Previous Meeting
Moved by James Vinson, seconded by John Bate.
"That the minutes of the meeting of the Committee of Adjustment, held on July 5, 2018,
be approved"
5. Other Business:
• Appeal date for the foregoing applications is August 29, 2018.
• Next Meeting of the Committee of Adjustment is August 30, 2018.
