Call to Order Chairperson Vice Chairperson Member Member Member Member Acting Secretary -Treasurer Chairperson, Todd Taylor called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm 2. Disclosures of Pecuniary Interest There were no pecuniary interests stated for this meeting 3. Applications 3.1 A2018-0040 Applicant/Owner: David Lee/Shawna Lee 40 William Ingles Drive, Courtice Part Lots 32, Concession 2 Former Township of Darlington The applicants, David and Shawna Lee, made a verbal presentation to the Committee regarding the application. The explanation for the proposed variance was similar to what was outlined in the report prepared for this application. Todd Taylor directed staff to circulate the letters of support to the committee members. Committee member, Shelley Pohjola, asked the applicants to clarify when they had built the gazebo. The applicants explained that they had constructed it in the July long weekend and had not obtained a building permit. They stated they were unaware of municipal regulations governing the construction of gazebos. Committee member, Shelley Pohjola, asked what had triggered their awareness that they required a minor variance. The applicants explained that there was an initial complaint regarding their gazebo structure. Through this complaint, it was determined that the size of the constructed gazebo exceeded the Zoning By-law's maximum lot coverage. Committee member, Gord Wallace, questioned staff whether the complaint was on the record. Staff stated that Planning Services had no record of the complaint on file. Committee Chairperson, Todd Taylor, informed the applicants that should the application be approved, they required to apply for a building permit an as a condition of approval. The applicants responded in the affirmative. There were no members of the public in objection or support. Moved by Gord Wallace, Seconded by Andre O'Bumsawin. "Based on our review of the application, all verbal comments received and the agency comments submitted, the application is deemed minor in nature, is considered desirable for the appropriate development and use of the land and maintains the general intent and purpose of the Zoning By-law and the Official Plans. The application to permit an existing rear yard accessory structure (gazebo) by increasing the maximum lot coverage from 45% to 46% at 40 William Ingles Drive, Courtice, is approved." "Carried" 4. Adoption of Minutes of the Previous Meeting Moved by Andre O'Bumsawin, seconded by Gord Wallace. "That the minutes of the meeting of the Committee of Adjustment, held on August 9, 2018, be approved" 5. Other Business: Appeal date for the foregoing applications is September 19, 2018. Next Meeting of the Committee of Adjustment is September 27, 2018. 6. Adjournment Moved by Andre O'Bumsawin seconded by Gord Wallace. "That the meeting adjourn at 7:14 pm."
