Review and approval of Agenda 2. Review and approval of previous meeting minutes 3. Community Partner Presentation • Dionne Powlenzuk, Executive Director of the Visual Arts Centre(VAC) provided an overview of VAC's History, programs • Current Strategic plan and Board of directors mandate coming to an end so it is an opportunity for a renewed vision/mission supported by a new staff structure • Looking forward to 2019- looking at new ways to engage population with exhibitions e.g. schools 4. Council Update • No update as elections for Council just occurred • Members congratulated Ron on being re-elected for Ward 2 5. Municipal Update • Overview of 55+ Active Living Fair (Courtice community Complex) • CP Holiday train will stop in Bowmanville on Nov 29, 2018 at 2PM • Networking Events for Community Organizations- Nov 14 6. Committee business - Terms of Reference review - No comments Internal 7. Workplan kickoff and initial ideas • Model UN model for schools- approach school boards once idea/program is flushed out for partnerships • Source out Diversity training for Councillors to ensure diversity lens is reflected in effective policy making • Develop a 3-5 years strategic plan that will be supported by a yearly work plan to implement activities/events/polices within Clarington • Committee members inquired about a budget- informed that no budget has been attached to the committee -committee members asked Ron and Erica to take that back as funds are needed to support initiatives. Erica suggested that the Committee would need to determine their activities and plans through development of a strategic plan in order to put forward requests for funding and suggested that there may be grants and sponsorship opportunities available for the Committee to apply for. 8. Diversity event/celebration planning segment. Refer to 7. 9. Any other Business Logistics for meetings were discussed: • Secretary could be rotating or fixed with a back-up • Divide the agenda to allocate time segments • Erica will provide printed meeting material for members • Community Partnership presentation to be limited to 15 min • Sub -committee might be formed to work on items such as Strategic Plan Next meeting: Wednesday November 28, 2018, 7:00 PM Internal
