In accordance with Resolution #F-265-81 -

a telephone survey of the four area newspapers was made on June a 1981
with the following results:
Newcastle Independent -Circulation of 8,300 copies - sent through the
mail to all areas of the
Town, including Rural Routes.
- not delivered in the Town of Bowmanville
Canadian Statesman - Circulation of 7,000 copies - All by subscription or
sold in stores.
Newcastle Reporter - Circulation of 13,000 copies - Delivered Door-to-door in
the Village of Newcastle and Town of
Bowmanville and sent by mail to all other
households in the Town of Newcastle.
Orono Times - Circulation of 800 copies - sold by subscription or in
. stores, mainly in the Orono Area.
Oshawa Times - Circulation of 102 subscriptions in the Town of Newcastle
Also sold in stores - no information as to the location
of subscribers.
Policy of advertising in the Newcastle Independent, at present, is that an ad
must be placed in the Canadian Statesman as well as the Independent. The Statesman
ad is full price and the Independent ad is half-price.
