REPORT TO THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE MEETING
OF DECEMBER 7, 1981.

SUBJECT: REPORT RESPECTING APPOINTMENTS TO THE DURHAM REGION
LAND DIVISION COMMITTEE, THE GANARASKA CONSERVATION
AUTHORITY, THE CENTRAL LAKE ONTARIO CONSERVATION
AUTHORITY, AND THE KAWARTHA REGION CONSERVATION
AUTHORITY.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that:
1. Report CD-15-81 be received;
2. That Council nominate Mr. W. Allin, R.R. #2, Newcastle, Ontario,
as the Town of Newcastle's representative on the Durham Region
Land Division Committee for the term commencing January 1, 1982,
to December 31, 1984. (3 years);
3. That Council re-appoint the incumbents to the Conservation
Authorities for the year 1982;
• 4. That His Worship Mayor Garnet B. Rickard be authorized to put
forward the Town's nominee, Mr. W. Allin, at the Durham Regional
Council Meeting scheduled to beheld on Wednesday, December 16, 1981.
5. And further that the Clerk be directed to advise the Durham Regional
Clerk of Council's decision with respect to the re-appointment of
the incumbents to the Conservation Authorities.

On Monday, November 30, 1981, Council gave consideration to a
communication from Mr. C. W. Lundy, dated November 18, 1981, which
requested that Council review and make appointments to the Regional
Land Division Committee for the term 1982 to 1984 inclusive and to the
various Conservation Authorities for the year 1982. His letter further
continued .......

stated, "that it was Regional Policy to request that area
municipalities only appoint elected officials to the Conservation
Authorities:'
Following a brief discussion, Resolution #C-1354-81 was passed.
It reads as follows:
"THAT the correspondence from the Regional Clerk,
regarding nominations to Conservation Authorities
and the Land Division Committee be referred to the
next General Purpose and Administration Committee
meeting with a report of the attendance of the
Town's representatives at the Conservation Authority
and Land Division Committee Meetings."

Mr. Lundy telephoned the Clerk's Department late on Wednesday,
December 2nd 1981, and asked that we advise Council that:
(a) the last Regional Council meeting would be held on
Wednesday, December 16, 1981, and not December 23, 1981,
as announced earlier; and
(b) that the Town of Newcastle have one of their Regional
Councillors in attendance prepared to put forward the
name of the Town's nominee to the Regional Land Division
Committee.

Because of the time constraints imposed by the sudden change in Regional
Council's meeting dates, we have been unable to compile the attendance
information asked for in resolution #C-1354-81. Accordingly, it would
be appropriate for Council to consider re-appointing the incumbents.

herein.
