Minutes of a special meeting of Council
held on Monday, November 16, 1987, at
11:50 a.m., in Court Room #2
Present Were: Mayor J. Winters
Councillor A. Cowman
Councillor D. Hamre
Councillor M. Hubbard
Councillor H. McKnight
Councillor F. Stapleton
Absent: Councillor A. Wotten
Also Present: Chief Administrative Officer, L. Kotseff
Treasurer, J. Blanchard
Town Clerk. D. W. Oakes
Deputy Director of Public Works, D. Gray
Consideration of a revision to the Regional Policy related
to the water problems in the Courtice Area.
Mayor Winters provided the Members of Council present, with
a verbal report on the revisions to the Regional Municipality
of Durham's Policy relating to the water problems in the
Courtice Urban Area of the Town of Newcastle.

Moved by Councillor Cowman, seconded by Councillor Hamre
THAT the Regional Municipality of Durham be advised that the
Council of the Town of Newcastle supports the Regional Works
Commissioner's Report and Recommendations contained in
Report 220-87, dated November 10, 1987, Construction of
Watermains in the Courtice Urban Area of the Town of Newcastle.

THAT leave be granted to introduce By-law 87-185, being a
by-law to authorize execution of an agreement with Gerr
Construction Limited for the construction of the New
Municipal Arena Complex.

THAT leave be granted to introduce By-law 87-186, being a
by -law -to confirm the proceedings of the Council of the Town
of Newcastle at this meeting held on the 16th day of
November 1987, and that the said by-law be now read a
first time..
