BY-LAW NO. 2010-040
Being a By-law to submit a question to the Electors at the Next Regular Municipal
Election to Approve Council Resolution re Direct Election of Regional Chair
WHEREAS Section 8 of the Municipai Elections Act, 1996, as amended, provides that
the Council of a municipality may pass a by-law to submit to its electors a proposed
by-law requiring their assent or a question not otherwise authorized bylaw but within
the Council's jurisdiction;
THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF CLARINGTON
HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. There shall be submitted to the electors at the regular municipal election to be
held on October 25, 2010, the following question:
Should the Council of fhe Municipality of Clarington approve the
following resolution:
THAT fhe Government of Onfario make a regulation requiring fhat the
Chair of the Regional Municipality of Durham be elected by general vote.
YES NO
2. The Municipal Clerk of the Corporation of the Municipality of Clarington shall
sum up the number of votes in the affirmative and in the negative on the said
question and declare and post the results of the vote pursuant to the
requirements of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, as amended.
BY-LAW read a first, second and third time this 26th day of April 2010.
