REPORT 1.0 A' No. 1: Key Map No. 2: Correspondence dated October 28, 1994, from H. Neill No. 3 Proposed By-law to amend By-law 91-58 2.0 2.1 Correspondence dated October 28, 1994, from Hugh Neill requested that the speed limit be reduced from 60 ]an/hr to 50 ]on/hr on Prestonvale Road from Glenabbey Drive southerly to Bloor Street. 101 o..E ~®wo~.«. RBPORT NO.: WD-58-94 PAGE 2 3.0 RSVISW AND COlRlSNT 3.1 The section of Prestonvale Road from Highway 2 to Glenabbey Drive was reduced .from 60 km/hr to 50 km/hr during 1992 to .reflect the urban nature of the roadway. The 630 metre (2,A67 .feet) section south of Glenabbey Drive remained at 60 km/hr because it was considered semi-urban and outside the Courtice Urban Boundary. 3.2 Residential development in Courtice has and will continue to increase traffic volumes along this section of roadway south of Glenabbey Drive. The residents are requesting a lower speed limit of 50 km/hr to reflect the higher urban traffic volumes combined with the fact that the roadway is only 6.4 metres (21 feet) wide with no sidewalks for their children., The residents anticipate that the 10 km/hr drop in the posted speed will have some effect on the speed of motorists. 4.0 CONCLIISIONS 4.1 From the above, it is concluded that reducing the posted speed will alleviate the safety concerns of residents.
