THAT Report WD-45-94 be received; 2. THAT Temperance Street be closed from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 1994, between King Street and Church Street; and 3. THAT the Director of Public Works make the necessary arrangements for the closure. REPORT 1.0 HACRGROUND 1.1 Clarinaton Dav at the Ex It is now six ( 6 ) weeks until Clarington Day at the Ex on Wednesday, August 31, 1994. The purpose of this report in to advise Council of a planned Media Presentation to be held on Thursday, August 4, 1994, and to obtain approval to close Temperance Street during the presentation. 2.0 REVIEW AND COMMENT 2.1 Media Presentation A media presentation will be held on August 4, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Although plans are not yet completed, the presentation will probably include having animals, such as i ~, REPORT NO.' WD- -94 PACE 2 elephants, tigers and horses as part of the Media Presentation. 2.2 Closure of Temperance Street The media presentation will be held. on the Town Square. However, since it is proposed to have animals as part of the event, it will be necessary to close Temperance Street during the Medis Presentation. 2.3 Access_to the Canadian herial Bank of Commerce Parkins Lot Access will be maintained for Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce customers to the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. parking lot by placing the barricades on Temperance Street at the north limit of the parking lot. Also, a sign will be placed at the Temperance Street/King Street intersection to advise the public that Temperance Street is closed to through traffic. 2.4 C.N.E. Hot Air Balloon Arrangements are also being made to have the C.N.E. Hot Air Balloon here during the Media Presentation. The Balloon will land either on the property across from the Library or on .Rotary Park located at Temperance and Queen Streets. Respectfully submitted, Walter A. Evans, P.Eng.
