Subject: pROVISION OF CONSULTING ENGINEERING SERVICES
3CUGOG STREET RECONSTRUCTION
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report WD-72-97 be received;
2. THAT the firm of G.M. Sernas and Associates Limited be
retained to furnish professional engineering services for the
detailed design and contract administration for the
reconstruction of Scugog Street, from the Carruthers-Smith
subdivision northerly to approximately 290 meters north of
Mill Lane;
3. THAT the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to execute an
Engineering Agreement with G.M. Sernas and Associates Limited;
and
4. THAT G.M. Sernas and Associates Limited be advised of
Council's decision.

groposed`.reconstruction of Scugog Street, int~luding the
Valiant.`subdivieion, Carruthers-Smith subdivision, ~ieltr- -
subdivision; St. Stephens Separate School site servicing, and
construc.Ean of the Northwest Bowmamrille Stormwater
idanageme~t Works. Since G.M. Sernas and Associates Limited
have been sa actively involved in this area and already have'
a database of; engineering ,knowledge of the existzig drainage
proposals and future works anticipated, it is .desirable to
retain this Engineering Consultant to carry out the design and
construction of the Seugog Street reconstruction;
3.2 Our -staff have dealt extensively .with G.M. -~+ernaa' and
Associates Limited on large residential. developments in
_various areas within. the Municipality of Clarington, ,
especially Court ice, Bowmanvle and Newcastle Village. We
have been pleased with their performance and have found their
work to be satisfactory.
3.3 The Municipality-has an agreement with Totten Sims.rHubicki and
Associates-Limited which outlines the terms and conditions for
their services to the Municipality. The agreement with G.Mc
Sernas and Associates Limited will be prepared, to the
satisfaction of the Director of Public `Works, on the-same -
bass as the agreement with Totten Sims Hubicki and Associates
Limited.
