Subject: STORAGE CONTAINER - HAMPTON OPERATIONS CENTRE
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report WD-69-97 be received;
2. THAT Public Works Department. be given authorization from the
Council of the Municipality of Clarington to purchase a
storage container from Newcastle Salvage for $2000.00.
REPORT
1.0 BACKGROUND
1.1 During the Fall of 1997, the Parks and Cemeteries Division of
the Public Works will be moving from the Bowmanville Yard to
the Hampton Yard.
1.2 During the fall and winter of 1997, commencement of
construction for a Municipal Operations Centre will take place
at the Hampton Operations Centre which will eliminate a
section of storage space.
2.0 REVIEW AND COMMENT
2.1 Parks and Cemetery staff will be moving from the Bowmanville
Yard to the Hampton Yard to allow for Animal Control to
expand. Along with staff, equipment will also be relocated
from Bowmanville to Hampton.

cemeteries, staff will require a working area. It is
recommended. that this area be the wash bay. At the present
time, the wash bay is being used as a storage bay,
2,3 Since it is necessary to keep items that are currently in the
wash bay from being affected by the weather, it is recommended
that they be relocated to a storage .container.
2.4
Newcastle Salvage has a storage container for sale at a price
of $2000.00 which will be suitable for-the storage of such
items. At this price, it would be much cheaper to purchase-
the-.container`. than. to rent one. The recommendation to
purchase has been .based on inquiries carried out by Public
Works staff.. Recognizing the small amount of money involved,
Treasury Department, Purchasing Division, has no objection to
this purchase.
3.0 FUNDS
3.1 "There are sufficient funds available -in Account
#7212-00411-0169. This matter has been referred to Council
because the storage container represents a capital item not
identified in the 1987 Budget.
