Subject: Offer to Donate Bench at Bowmanville Cemetery - Green/Flintoff
Recommendationsr
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
.Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report WD-16-97 be received;
2. THAT the request for permission to donate a park-style. bench
at Bowmanville Cemetery be granted;
3. THAT the. style,. location and installation. of the bench be
-, subject to the approval of the Director of Public Works;
4. THAT cemetery staff install the bench at a cost of $224; and
5. THAT Dave and Marilyn Green and Linda Flintoff be advised of
Council's decision and thanked for their generous donation.

No. 1: Correspondence, dated February 7, 1997, from Linda
Flintoff
2.0 BACKGROUND
2.1 Linda Flintoff, in correspondence dated February 7, 1997,
requested that she. and Dave and Marilyn Green be granted
permission to place a park-style bench at Bowmanville Cemetery

in memory of her husband and the Green's son. They have
agreed to provide the bench and pay the cost for the
installation.
3.0 REVIEIR AND COMMENT
3.1 To ensure that the bench and installation is in accordance
with the Municipal By-law, it is recommended that the
type/style of bench be subject to the approval of the Director
of Public Works and that cemetery staff meet with the donors
to select a suitable location.
3.2 It is further recommended that the bench be installed by
cemetery staff for $224, which is the flat rate charged for a
regular headstone foundation.
4.0 CONCLUSION
4.1 It is recommended that the donation of a park style bench be
gratefully accepted and that the bench be installed by
cemetery staff at a location satisfactory to the Director of
Public Works.
