Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:.
1. THAT Report WD-15-97 be received; and

2. THAT .Council approve the by-laws attached to Report WD-15-97
assuming variousroad widenings and reserve blocks as public
highways.

2.0 BACRGROVND
2.1 Through the development process, various road widenings and
0.3 metre reserve blocks have been transferred to The
Corporation of the Municipality of Clarington. When

development conditions are met by adjacent land owners, the
widenings and reserve blocks require by-laws to have the lands
'assumed as public highways for public use'.
2.2 Preparing the by-laws on an individual basis is time
consuming. As a cost saving measure, the various lands to be
dedicated and assumed for public use have been permitted to
accumulate so that they could be combined in the attached by-
laws.
2.3 The by-laws are described as follows:

Lands to be dedicated and assumed for public use under the
Registry System;
Attachment No. 2
Lands to be dedicated and assumed for public use under the
Land Titles System;
Attachment No. 3
Lands previously dedicated which may now be assumed for public
use;

2.4 All by-laws have been prepared to the satisfaction of the
Municipality's solicitor. It is now appropriate for Council
to pass the attached By-laws assuming the various lands as
public highways for public use.

BY-LAW 97-
Being a By-law to lay out and establish
certain lands and premises within the
Municipality of Clarington as public highway
and to assume such public highways for public
use.
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of The Corporation of the Municipality
of Clarington enacts that the lands and premises set out in the
attached Schedule "A" are hereby laid out and established as public
highways forming apart of the public highway referred to and are
assumed by the Corporation for public use.

THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF CLARINGTON
BY-LAW 97-
Being a By-law to authorize the Municipality
of Clarington to apply to be owner of a
portion of Old Scugog Road and to assume such
portion of the public highway for public use.
WHEREAS the lands and premises set out in the attached Schedule "A"
form part of the local road known as Old Scugog Road;
AND WHHREAS ownership of such lands has been entered at the Land
Registry Office at Whitby in the name of The Regional Municipality
of Durham.
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of The Corporation of the Municipality
of Clarington enacts the following:
1. That the Corporation apply to the Land Registrar at Whitby to
be the owner of the lands .and premises set out in the attached
Schedule "A" and that such lands and premises are hereby
assumed by the Corporation for public use.
2. That the Municipality's solicitor is hereby authorized to make
such application.

THE CORPORATION OF THE MVNICZPALITY OF CLARINGTON
BY-LAW 97-
Being a By-law to authorize the Municipality
of Clarington to apply to be owner of the
local roads within Plan 4DM-774 and to assume
such local roads for public use.
WHEREAS the lands and premises set out in the attached Schedule "A"
form part of the local road system;
AND WHEREAS ownership of such lands has not been entered at the
Land Registry Office at Whitby in the name of The Corporation of
The Municipality o£ Clarington.
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of The Corporation of Clarington enacts
the following:
1. That the Corporation apply to the Land Registrar at Whitby to
be the owner of the lands and premises set out in the attached
Schedule "A" and that such lands and premises are hereby
assumed by the Corporation for public use.
2. That the Municipality's Solicitor is hereby authorized to make
such application.
BY-LAW read a first and second time this 10th day of March, 1997.
BY-LAW read a third time and finally passed this 10th day of March,
1997.
