THAT Report WD~26-96 be received; 2. THAT the Diregtor of Public Works be authorized to purchase the extra quantity of Liquid Calcium Chloride required to complete the dust control program with budgeted funds being. redistributed ;from equipment sub-account to material purchase sub-account within Dust Control account 7209-00401-X. REPORT 1.0 BACKGROUND ', 1.1 The co-operatiNe tender WR2-96 for the supply and application of liquid caljcium chloride was awarded to Miller Paving. Limited for tY~e approximate quantity of 250,000 litres at a tendered prig of $0.13/litre. 2.0 REVIEFT AND COI~lENT 2.1 Purchase of Additional Ouantities The Quantity o~ 250,000 litres was approximate and an over run of 258 would ave been acceptable. REPORT NO.: WD-24-96 PAGE 2 required to complete the program is approved it would represent an over-run of the estimated quantity by 31.8$. litres 306,690 purchased as of June 21, 1996 +22,720 additional quantities required 329,410 total required to complete 1996 Liquid Calcium Chloride Dust Control Program -250,000 approved tendered quantity =79,410 above tender quantity 31.8 79,410 at $0.1,3/litre = $10,323.30 2.2 Exalanation of Higher IIsage in considering the previous year's (1995) dust complaints, staff decided to increase the application rate from the regular rate of 1.3 litres per square metre to the medium rate of 1.8 litres per square metre near many homes. It was considered that this heavier application would improve dust control, reduce future dust complaints and reduce the requirement for later applications of flake calcium. The three locations left to complete are the Darlington-Manvers Townline Road, a new section on Cochrane Road and a section of Old Scugog Road in Enniskillen prior to a hi-float application. One load of 11,360 litres was also used for ball diamonds. 2.3 Funding of S10'.323.30 Expenditure One load (11,360 litres) $1,476.80 will be charged to ball diamonds 760300001-0169. An amount of $7,500.00 will be drawn from they material purchase sub-account to utilize the total budgeted amount. The remaining amount of $1,347.00 would be drawn from the budgeted equipment account.
