Mrs. Alma Langmaid, stated that the delegation present
relative to the decisi;on of Council with regard to the
resignation of two Public Works Employees, had appointed
Mr. Jasper Holliday as spokesman.
Mr. Holliday said that he had been asked to make the
presentation. The information had been put together as
a letter to Council and checked by those responsible.
The taxpayers requested a full disclosure to the public
of the 'in camera' discussions, the resolutions, and
the actions taken to date.
Mr. Holliday read a submission and presented it to Mayor
Rickard. The petition contained 302 signatures.
Mrs. Langmaid requested that she receive a copy of
Council's reply to the submission. The original contained
the signatures on the petition and Mr. Holliday asked
that a copy be returned to the delegation. He asked that
Council deal expeditiously with the matter and make the
investigations public. Mayor Rickard asked Mr. Holliday
if he would obtain the permission of the individuals
involved to make this information public.
Councillor Woodyard asked if the presenters of the
petition had any documented authority from Messrs.
Dunham and Ashton to plead on their behalf.
Mr. Holliday replied that, to the best of his knowledge,
there was no documentation. He felt the press release
was not clear and the delegation wished to clear up the
misunderstandings whi€h had been created in the press and
by word of mouth.
Councillor Hubbard asked who had prepared the brief. Mr.
Holliday replied that he was not prepared to identify the
authors.
Resolution #C-1383-81A
Moved by Councillor Prout, seconded by Councillor Woodyard
