THAT Communications D-1, Ministry of Municipal Affairs and
Housing re Municipal Conflict of Interest Act, 1981, and the
Municipal Licensing Act, 1981, be received for information.

Moved by Councillor Hamre, seconded by Councillor Woodyard
WHEREAS the travel distance on Main Street, Orono,
between Sommerville Avenue South and the 115/35 Highway
is of short distance with speed having to be reduced
before entering the highway and is a residential area
with pedestrian traffic.
THEREFORE be it resolved that the Town of Newcastle
request the Region of Durham to consider the reduction
of the speed limit on this portion of Regional Road 17
to 60 km per from 80 km per.

THAT leave be granted to introduce the following By-laws:
81-180 being a by-law to amend by-law 75-23, being a by-law
to designate certain Highways within the Corporation of
the Town of Newcastle "Through Highways".
81-182 being a by-law to authorize the entering into
an agreement with Ronald J. Sucee and Gertrude Irene Sucee.
81-183 being a by-law to authorize the entering into an
agreement with LDCM Investments Ltd. and Barmond Builders
Ltd.
81-184 being a by-law to establish a Reserve for Municipal
Acquisitions of Real Property.
81-185 being a by-law to amend Restricted Area By-law
Number 1592, as amended, of the former Township of Clarke.
And that the said by-laws be now read a first time.

AND WHEREAS the extension of Olive Avenue in the City
of Oshawa has been completed easterly to connection with the
Townline Road South;
AND WHEREAS Olive Avenue is a Regional Road westerly from
Harmony Road through the City of Oshawa;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Town of Newcastle
request that the Region of Durham assume that portion of
the Townline Road South of Highway Two to Olive Avenue
as a regional road;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town of Newcastle
support the assumption of the balance of Olive Avenue
from the Townline Road to Harmony Road, as a regional road;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be
forwarded to the Reqion of Durham Works Committee and
to the City of Oshawa, requesting their support.

THAT Regional Planning Staff be requested to include the
Town of Newcastle in their future discussions and that
Regional Planning Staff, the M.T.C., and Go-Transit be
advised of Newcastle's interest in the extension of the
Go-Transit service and of the proposal for a terminal
in the concept prepared by Ontario Hydro at the
Darlington Generating Station.
