In October, 1978, the above noted application was forwarded to
the Town for Commalts. It was circulated to various agencies for input
during November and December of that year.
We have now received comments from all agencies concerned, none
of which expressed objections and are, therefore, in a position to
make a recommendation on this application.
The present use of the property is for landscaping and the appli-
cants wish to expand this use to permit the operation of a garden centre -
nursery and the sale of related small engine machines. The latter would
be seasonally altered to permit the sale of small engine winter recreation
vehicles.
Inasmuch as no objections have been received to date and we are
of the opinion that the proposed uses will not adversely affect the pre-
sent uses of the surrounding lands or the implementation of the provisions
of the Durham Regional Official Plan, we recommend the following:

1. That the Region of Durham be advised that the Town of
Newcastle has no objection to the proposed amendment
to the Durham Regional Official Plan.
