THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF CLARINGTON
BY-LAW 2001-016
Being a By-law to repeal By-law 94-196, to appoint Members of the Clarington
Public Library Board.
WHEREAS Section 9(1) of the Public Libraries Act, 1984, provides that a public library board
for a municipality whose population is less than 100,000, shall be composed of at least five (5)
and no more than nine (9) members appointed by the Municipal Council;
AND WHEREAS pursuant to the requirements of the Public Libraries Act, 1984, the Council
of the Corporation of the Municipality of Clarington enacted By-law #85-85, establishing the
Composition of the Newcastle Public Library Board;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNCIPALITY
OF CLARINGTON HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT the membership of the Clarington Public Library Board shall be
Composed as follows:
a) Two representatives of the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School
Board, as follows:
Don Peebles
Steven Goodchild
b) One representative of the Peterborough-Victoria-Northumberland
and Clarington Separate School Board, as follows:
C. McKeever
C) Four resident appointees, as follows:
M. Phyllis Baker
Brenda Carrigan
Allan Hewitt
John Witheridge
d) Two representatives of the Municipal Council, as follows:
Councillor Don MacArthur
Councillor Jane Rowe
2. THAT each board member shall hold office for a term concurrent with
the term of the appointing Council, or until a successor is appointed.
3. THAT By-law 94-196 is hereby repealed.
By-law read a first and second time this 15' day of January, 2001.
By-law read a third time and finally passed this 15"' day of January, 2001.
