COMMENT: Resolution C-1400-81 appointed me as a Co-ordinator for the preparation of a Handbook for Community Hall Boards. Since that date, I have approached all Departments of the Town for input. I have consulted with representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Recreation from the Peterborough office, and have received some prepared notes, and enthusiasm for this project from every source. During the discussions to date, it has been brought to my attention that I should be seeking input from and consulting with the people that the handbook is intended to help. Accordingly, I have discussed with Mr. Bjorne Nielsen of the Ministry of Culture and Recreation and Mr. Bud Fanning, Director of Community Services, the possibility of holding a workshop for appointed board people in the Town of Newcastle. Mr. Nielsen has agreed to structure and conduct a workshop for the Town with input from interested persons in the Town. To this end, a workshop planning ......./2 REPORT TO COUNCIL -2- MEETING OF JANUARY 18th, 1982 FROM COUNCILLOR BRUCE TAYLOR meeting has been arranged between myself, Mr. Nielsen, the Director of Community Services and persons from interested appointed boards. They will put together their pooled ideas for the subject items for a workshop activity that will lead to text for a handbook. This meeting is scheduled for 8:00 p.m., on January 20th, 1982 in the Committee Room of the Bell Building, Bowmanville. The objective of this meeting is to plan the workshop to take place sometime in late February at a mutually acceptable time and place. A written invitation will be forwarded to appointed board members, Councillors and senior staff inviting them to attend the workshop when the plans become more definite. Further comment and input from Councillors and staff would be appreciated. Respectfully submitted, COUNCILLOR BRUCE TAYLOR /mr
