THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF CLARINGTON
BY-LAW 2000-204
Being a by-law to repeal By-law#97-258, and to appoint
an acting head to act in the place of the head of Council
for the Municipality of Clarington
WHEREAS Section 69(2) of the Municipal Act,R.S.O. 1990, c.M.45 authorizes the
council of the municipality to appoint a member of the council to act in the place of the
head of the council;
AND WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Clarington
deems it expedient to appoint a member of the council to act from time-to-time in the
place and stead of the head of council when the head of council is absent form the
Municipality or absent through illness or his office is vacant and, while so acting, such
member has and may exercise all the rights, powers and authority of the head of council;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE
MUNICIPALITY OF CLARINGTON HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT the Acting Mayor shall be known as the Deputy Mayor
2. THAT the Regional Councillors serve as deputy mayor for the time periods
specified:
Councillor Charlie Trim-December 2000 to May 2001
Councillor Jim Schell -June 2001 to May 2002
Councillor Charlie Trim-June 2002 to November 2002
Councillor Jim Schell -December 2002 to May 2003
Councillor Charlie Trim-June 2003 to November 2003
3. THAT By-law#97-258, is hereby repealed.
By-law read a first and second time this 4th day of December, 2000.
By-law read a third time and finally passed this 4ffi day of December, 2000.
