Mayor Rickard and Members of Council: -
The following is a report of the meeting of the Community Services Committee held on
Monday, June 9, 1980:
1. Play Fields
The Program Director's report relative to summary of play fields used by various
organizations in the Town of Newcastle was received for information.
2. 1980-81 Program Fees and Rentals
It was recommended to Council that the Director's report relative to 1980-81
Preliminary Program Fees and Rentals, dated Thursday, May 22, 1980, be adopted.
3. Outdoor Facilities - Pine Ridge School
It was recommended to Council that the Town does not require the sports facilities of
the Pine Ridge School under the conditions outlined in the letter from the Ministry of
Government Services, dated May 27, 1980, but would be prepared to continue negotiations
for the use of this property for Town purposes.
4. Monthly Fire Loss Report for April
The Town of Newcastle Fire Department Monthly Fire Loss Records for April was received
for information.
5. Orono Park Refreshment Booth Rental
It was recommended to Council that the rental fee for the Orono Park Refreshment Booth
be $225. for the 1980 season.
6. Old Orono Cemetery - Removal of Markers
It was recommended to Council that they concur with the request of the Clarke Cemetery
Board and the Clerk be instructed to prepare the necessary by-law to remove headstones.
from the Old Orono Cemetery and place them in the proposed cairn on the Lawrence Cemetery
Site, lot 21, Concession 5, former Township of Clarke and, conditional upon the by-law
being approved by the Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations, an additional
$1000. be granted to the Board for 1980 and the amount be taken from unclassified
administration contingency account.

7. Abandoned Cemeteries By-law 79-25
It was recommended to Council that by-law 79-25 be amended to delete the abandoned
cemetery, lots 1 and 2, Concession 5, former Township of Clarke and add the following:

8. Specifications 80-1 - kTon Truck
The Tenders for the 11 Ton Truck for the Community Services Department were referred
to the Town Manager and the Director of Community Services to confer with the Director
of Public Works, for a recommendation to Council.
9. Pool Chemicals
It was recommended to Council that the quotations for Pool Chemicals from Advanced
Pool Services, be accepted.
10. Darlington Cemetery Board
It was recommended to Council that the minutes of the Darlington Cemetery Board meeting
of May 26, 1980, be received for information.
11. Septic Services - Hampton Hall
It was recommended to Council that the Town Manager authorize the location and necessary
information regarding the septic services at the Hampton Hall.
12. Meeting with Library Board
It was recommended to Council that they meet with the Library Board to discuss problems
resulting from the Budget.
