HomeMy WebLinkAbout1980-04-28 ReportREPORT NO. 1 Mayor Rickard and Members of Council: - The following is a report of the meeting of Community Services Committee held on Monday, April 28, 1980: 1. Rearrangement of Stones - Old Methodist Cemetery It was recommended to Council that the by-law to rearrange stones at the Old Methodist Cemetery, Lot 27, Conc. 9 be approved by Council and forwarded to the Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations for their approval. 2. Enniskillen Cemetery It was recommended to Council that the request of the Church Board of the Enniskillen United Church be acknowledged and the Town write to Rev. Harold W. Kempling, Minister of the Church asking him why the United Church of Canada wishes to abandon this Cemetery. 3. Burk Cemetery It was recommended to Council that Ontario Hydro be advised that Burk Cemetery is within their boundaries and the Town anticipates that Ontario Hydro will be responsible for the maintenance of the Cemetery. 4. West Beach Playground It was recommended to Council that the Town be exempt from the $50.00 rental fee for West Beach Playground due to the fact that the Community Services Department maintains the playground and pay for the playground supervisor and the Director of Community Services and the Treasurer research the amount of taxes paid on property used as a playground. 5. Aerial Ladder It was recommended to Council that the Fire Chief be authorized to draw up specifications for an aerial ladder as soon as the Town Budget has received the necessary approvals. 6. Criteria for Community Centre Funding It was recommended to Council that the following be the conditions under which they will consider requests from Community Centres: 1) The project must be consistent with the Recreation Master Plan 2) The Community Centre Board must be prepared to show a financial plan which indicates their capability of repaying the moneys. 3) The Town will designate an amount of the Parks Reserve Fund which will be available for this purpose and Council will set the interest rate to be charged on the loan. It is suggested that the maximum total loans outstanding be $100,000. r - Z - Report No. 1 7. Management Committee for Fitness Centre It was recommended to Council that the letter from the Splash Committee, dated April 8, 1980 relative to the appointment of a Community Centre Management Committee for the Fitness Centre, be received for information and the Director of Community Services liaise with the Splash Committee for any assistance they may be able to provide and further, that the Committee be advised that the Town is not prepared, at this time to appoint a Management Committee for the Centre.
