HomeMy WebLinkAbout1980-01-07 ReportREPORT #1 Mayor Rickard and Members of Council: - The following is a report of the meeting of the Community Services Committee held on Monday, January 7, 1980. 1. Free Ice Time for Schools The report of the Community Services Director regarding Free Ice Time for Schools was received for information. 2. Courtice Tennis Courts it was recommended to Council that the matter of lighting at Courtice Tennis Courts not be proceeded with at this time, and the Treasurer finalize the financing of the Tennis Courts. 3. Removal of Cemetery Markers It was recommended that the Town write to Mr. Sam Cureatz, M.P.P. and ask him to pursue the matter of moving markers in Cemeteries in Clarke Township. 4. Orono Town Hall Board It was recommended to Council that they concur with the request in the letter from M. Hadley, Secretary to the Orono Town Hall Board and accept the resignation of Mr. Ron Hadley from the Board and Mr. Keith Anderson be appointed in his place; the Board for 1980 to be composed of: Keith Anderson Madeleine Hadley Sterling Mather Carlos Tamblyn N. Mereweather. 5. Master Recreation Planning Team It was recommended to Council that the Director of Community Services be authorized.to advertise in local newspapers for citizens to constitute the Planning Team for the Recreation Master Plan for the Town of Newcastle. 6. Work at Newcastle Harbour It was recommended that the Town write to Mr. G. Thomas Beaulieu, P. Eng. Ministry of Fisheries and Oceans, Small Craft Harbours Branch, 3050 Harvester Road, Burlington, Ontario UN 3J1, requesting information and specifications on the work being done at Newcastle Harbor and informing him that this Council is concerned that work can be carried out across Town property by the Federal Government with no communication to the Town. 7. Budgets It was recommended that preliminary Fire Department and Community Services Budgets be presented to the Committee for review and input as soon as possible.
