Mayor Rickard and Members of Council:
The following is a report of the meeting of the Community Services
Committee held on Tuesday, November 13 1979 at 9:30 a.m.
1. Courtice Fire Hall
It was recommended to Council that Council agree with the Volunteer
Firemen's and Area Fire Chief's recommendation not to use the
upstairs room at Courtice Fire Hall for Community..Puxposes except
for special occasional uses at the discretion of the Area Fire Chief
in accordance with present policy in other areas of the Municipality.
2. Reservoirs in the Village of Newcastle
It was recommended to Council that the following reservoirs in the
Village of Newcastle be fitted with new lids:
Replace cover - 4" with lifting ring, corner of Beaver and King Streets.
Replace cover - 4" with lifting rings, Highway #2 and top of hill at
Nel Gor Nursing Home area, 30 King Street West.
Replace cover - 4" with lifting ring - Edward and Church Street area.
and that the following reservoirs not be repaired at this time:
Reline reservoir and seal - Robert Street - approximately (20' x 20' x 81).
Raise tank fill above ground and instal cover 4" with lifting ring,
Community Hall grounds.
and that the price be renegotiated with the contractors and after
conferring with the Treasurer, submit a further report to the Council
meeting on November 19th including the source of funds.
3. Snow Clearing at gone Hall
It was recommended to Council that the Town Manager's report
regarding Mr. Mahon's complaint regarding snow clearance at the Tyrone
Community Hall be referred to the Hall Board to suggest remedial
action prior to answering the letter from Mr. Mahon's solicitor.
4. Snow Clearance at Courtice Fire Hall
It was recce mended to Council that the Fire Chief's report regarding
snow clearing at Courtice Fire Hall be received and Mr. McFarland's
services be retained for snow clearing at Courtice Fire Hall
for the 1979-80 winter season at a rate of $25.00 per hour.
5. Appointments to Boards and Commissions
It was recommended to Council that the Town Manager's report regarding
appointments to Boards and Commissions for 1980 be received and the Town
Clerk be requested to place the necessary advertising in the local papers.

6. Appointment of Volunteer
It was recommended to Council that the Area Fire Chief's
recommendation to appoint Carl Phillips as a part-time fire
fighter at Fire Station #4 be approved.
7. Area Fire Chief's Office
It was recommended to Council that the Fire Chief's request to
enlarge his office be discussed with the Police Chief and subject
to approval in writing, the necessary modification be carried out
at an estimated cost of $100.00.
8. Visiting Swedish Hockey Team
It was recommended to Council that the Director of Community Services
be requested to arrange for suitable presentation to the Swedish
Hockey Team which will be playing against the Bownanville Midget
Hockey Club on January 6 1980.
