f- Mayor Rickard and Members of Council: -
The following is a report of the meeting of the Community Services Committee
held on Tuesday, October 16, 1979 at 10:00 a.m.:
1. Charges for Ice Time - Bowmanville Arena
It was recommended to Council that, in view of the fact that the Jr. C. Eagles
Hockey Team have won the League Championship and the Ontario Championship, an
exception be made in this case and they be charged the regular rate for ice
time at Bowmanville Arena for the All Star Game on Boxing Day, rather than double time.
2. Valve Testing - Bowmanville Arena
It was recommended to Council that Grinnel Fire Protection be engaged for trip
testing of dry pipe valves in the Bowmanville Arena, at a cost of $2,795., being
the lower quote.
3. Fire Fighters - Fire Station X13, Orono
It was recommended that Robert Jackson and Paul -Shmyr-be- appointed -part time fire
fighters at Fire Station #3, Orono, subject to a Medical Certificate of Fitness
and a 6 months' probation period.
4. Hampton Hall
It was recommended to Council that the Fire Chief's report relative to requirements
for compliance with Liquor Licensing Specifications, be forwarded -to -Hampton Hall
Board for compliance with Fire Requirements on a cost sharing basis, except for
Item 5, which would be a total cost to the Town.
5. Horse Racing Orono
It was recommended to Council that they concur with the request of the Durham Central
Agricultural Society and a by-law be prepared to permit horse racing on Sunday,
September 7th, 1980.
6. Fire Prevention Week
It was recommended to Council that they extend congratulations to the Fire Chief
and the Fire Department for the excellent appearance of the Fire Stations during
Open House and Fire Prevention Week and the appreciation of the Town be extended
to the Volunteer Firemen, through the Chief.

7. Eldorado Dump
It was recommended to Council that Dr. Gray, Medical Officer of Health, be informed
that Eldorado will be burning contaminated material at Eldorado Dump in the near
future.
8. Parking - Bowmanville Library
It was recommended to Council that the parking by-law be amended to provide 30
minute parking at the Library, rather than the 15 minutes formerly suggested.
