Mayor Rickard and Members of Council: -
The following is a report of the meeting of the Community Services Committee held
on Tuesday, June 12, 1979, at 9:30 a.m, in the Bell Building Committee Room.
1. Baseline Community Centre Board
It was recommended to Council that the following be appointed to the Base Line Community
Centre Board: Ron Metcalf, Brenda Metcalf, Roxy Barnes, Charley Hynes, Ron Sickle.
2. Courtice Darlington Public Library Branch
It was recommended that the proposal for a Courtice Darlington Public Library Branch
located in Courtice Secondary School, presented by Mayor Rickard be received for
information and the Community Services Committee, with the Library Board, negotiate
with the School Board, the feasibility of the proposed program.
3. Orono Town Hall Board
It was recommended to Council that --the operation of the Orono Town Hall Board be
handed over to the Hall Board on July 1, 1979 and that a sum of $2,500. plus accounts
receivable, be credited to them for 1979 for the operation of the Hall.
4. Sitting Lawn Mower
It was recommended to Council that the Tender from Trewin Farm Equipment, Blackstock,
of $2,250. plus sales tax of $157.50, be accepted for a Sitting Lawn Mower.
5. Decoration Day
It was recommended to Council that Decoration Day at Bowmanville and Bond Head Cemeteries
be on August 12, 1979.
6. Brownsdale Communtiy Centre Board
It was recommended to Council that the following be appointed to the Brownsdale Community
Centre Board: George Cameron, Norman Elgear, MaryAnn Innis, Elizabeth Vanderstarre,
Hans Lamers, Doreen Cameron, Tina Lamers.
