Mayor Rickard and Members of Council: -
The following is a report of a meeting of the Community Services Committee held
on Monday, June 19, 1978:
1. Skateboarding
It was recommended to Council that a skateboarding program be promoted at
the Darlington Sports Centre as per the. Director's report.
2. Snow Fence - Newcastle Village Park
Resolution $CS -144-78 was rescinded and it was recommended that Council
approve of the snow fence at the Newcastle Village Park by the Newcastle
Lakers Ball Club and they return the fence in accordance with their agreement
with the Public Works Department.
3. Mirco Contractors
It was recommended that the sealed letter, received on June lb, 1978, from
Mirco Contractors, be returned unopened.
4. Smoke Detectors
It was recomended to Council that they endorse the use of Smoke Detectors
in all dwellings in the municipality and encourage all householders to have
them installed and the Fire Chief prepare an ad to be placed in the local
newspapers.
5. Repairs to swimming Pools
It was recommended to Council that the Community Services Department
in consultation with the Town Manager, have the necessary repairs made to
the Newcastle Swimming Pool and the Bowmanville Swimming Pool and it be
accommodated within the Budget.
