Mayor Rickard and Members of Councils -
The following is a report of a meeting of the Community Services Committee
held on April 10, 1978:
1. Bond Head Cemetery Survey
It was recommended to Council that Merrill Brown be authorized to reproduce 3
copies of the survey of Bond Head Cemetery and it be charged to Bond Head
Cemetery account, subject to the Chairman providing an estimate of the cost.
2. Bond Head Cemetery Board
It was recommended to Council that Hugh Smith, Albert Naylor, Rick Bate and
Councillor Alfred Gray be appointed to the Bond Head Cemetery Board subject
to the .confirmation of Council and the Mayor and Councillor Gray investigate
the possibility of additional merbers for th s Board.
3. Property Adjacent to Bond Head Cemetery
It was recommended to Council that the status of 2 pieces of property adjacent
to Bond Head Cemetery in the Village of Newcastle be referred to the Planning
Department to consider with the District Plan of the Village.
4. Ball Hockey - Darlington Sports Centre
It was recommended to Council that they concur with the recommendation of the
Community Services Director to rent the Darlington Sports Centre for Ball
Hockey on Sunday evenings, 3 hours per night for 20 weeks at $15. per hour,
beginning on Sunday, April 23, 1978.
5. Cenotaph Newtonville
It was recommended to Council that the Chairman contact Mr. C. Lemon in Newtonville
for a letter of consent to allow grass cutting on his property west of the
Cenotaph in Newtonville.
6. Rental Darlington Sports Centre
It was recommended to Council that, since the price had already been quoted, the
Darlington Sports Centre be rented for a wedding reception on July 15, 1978
for 6 hours at $15.00 per hour.
7. Ontario Championship Hockey Teams
It was recommended to Council that Hockey Teams in the Town of Newcastle winning
Ontario Championships be recognized in keeping with previous policy.

8. Write -Off of Bowmanville Cemetery Accounts

It was recommended to Council t17. -it they concur with the recommendation
contained in the Treasurer's report dated March 29, 1978 that he be
authorized to write off outstanding Bowmanville Cemetery Accounts in
the amount of $781.00 for accounts dated 1961 to 1975.
9. Newcastle Recreation Advisory Committee
It was recommended to Council that the Newcastle Recreation Advisory
Committee be dissolved and the present members of the Committee and Mrs.
M.Yeo who had submitted her name to serve on that Committee, be so notified.
10. Retirement Gift
It was recommended to Council that the Area Fire Chief, the Fire Chief of
Fire Hall #2 and the Chairman of the Community Services Committee secure
a suitable gift for Mr. Naylor and make provisions for a presentation.
