Mayor Rickard and Members of Council: -
The following is a report of a meeting of the Community Services Committee held
on Monday, March 27, 1978 in the Bowmanville Town Hall Committee Room.
1. Visual Arts Centre Repairs
Mr. David King and Mr. Howard Bickell were present representing the Visual
Arts Centre in response to Item 2 on the Report of the Finance and Administration
Meeting of March 6, 1978, which was referred back to this Committee. After
a general discussion regarding the costs for repairs to halls and washrooms
and the installation of fire doors etc., and how the costs should be shared
between the Visual Arts and the Town it was recommended to Council that they
authorize the work to be completed and the Town Manager meet with all parties
and come back with a report on the sharing of the costs.
2. B.M.H.A. GBraQe Sale
It was recommended to Council that in response to a letter from the B.M.H.A.
that the booking of the Darlington Sports Centre for May 13 and 14, 1978 for
a Garage Sale be accepted and the request for waiving of the fee be referred
to Budget discussions and considered under Grants.
3. Tenders for Fire Truck
The following tenders for a fire truck were opened and referred to the Fire
Chief and Town Manager for evaluation and a report to the Finance and Adminis-
tration meeting on April 3, 1978:
Oshawa Truck Centre $57,086.00
Pierreville Fire Trucks $49,280.00
C. E. Hickey & Sons Ltd. G.M.C. $54,596.00
Ford $54,746.00
International $53,933.00
King Seagrave $55,667.00
4. Bond Head Cemetery
It was recommended to Council that the Town Manager and Appropriate Staff have
the by-laws and records of Bond Read Cemetery updated as soon as possible and
report back to this Committee and in the interim, the cemetery be handled by
the Community Service Committee.
