Mayor Rickard and Members of the Community Services Committee;
The following is a report of a meeting of the Community Services Committee held
on February 13, 1978:
1. Community Information Centre
Mrs. Elaine Barber of the Social Planning Council and Mr. John James Jr..
of the James Publishing Co. spoke to the Committee regarding the need for
a Community Information Centre for the Town of Newcastle. It was recommended
that Council support a trial period by the James Publishing Co. and the
Social Planning Council for monitoring information calls and the situation
be reviewed at a later date.
2. Memberships for 1978
It was recommended to Council that the Membership for the Municipality
to the Ontario Municipal Recreation Association, at a cost of $70.00 and
to the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association of $100.00 for 1978, be
paid.
3. Improvements to Ball Park Village of Newcastle
It was recommended to Council that they approve of the project of the Lions
Club in the Village of Newcastle for fencing and improvements to the Ball
Park in the Village at a cost of approximately $4,000. and the Treasurer
apply for the necessary grants.
