Mayor Rickard and Members of Council: -
The following is a report of a meeting of theCommunity Services
Committee held on Monday, March 21, 1977°
1. Arena Closings
It was recommended to Council that the Bowmanville Arena and the Darlington
Sports Centre be closed on Good Friday, April 8, 1977.
2. Spring and Summer Recreation Program Fees
The following schedule of fees for Spring and Summer Recreation Programs was
recommended to Council:
Kinsman "T" Ball ............ $2.00
Baseball ....................$5.00
Soccer ......................$6.00
Figure Skating Carnival ..... $1.25 - .50C
Swimming ....................$9.50 - $5.50
Tennis Clinic...............$4.00 (Bowmanville & Orono)
Flood Light Permits ......... $8.00 (Bowmanville & Orono)
Grass Cutting...............$9.50 per hr.
Softball ....................$5.00
Admission to Swimming Pools
.......... .75C all day
...........$15.00 per season
Family of 3 or over ........ $40.00 per se&son.
3. Raplacement of Heating Unit at Darlington Sports Centre
It was recommended to Council that they accept Scheme #2 - 1 furnace and electric
heat in the Ticket and Manager's Office - at an estimated cost of $16,316.00 and
Tenders be invited.
4. Darlington Cemetery Board
It was recommended that $1,500. be placed in the 1977 Budget for the Darlington
Cemetery Board for restoration work at Providence and Old Methodist Cemeteries.
5. Community Recreation Centre Board Appointments for 1977
The attached list of Community Centre Boards for 1977, including two members of
Council, according to Para. 5 (1) of the Community Recreation Centres Act, 1974,
was recommended to Council for approval.
6. Newcastle Community Hall Board
It was recommended to Council that Councillor Gray and Mayor Rickard be appointed
to the Newcastle Community Hall Board under Para. 5 (1) of the Community Recreation
Centres Act, 1974.
