Mayor Rickard and Members of CoHncil:-
The following is a report of a meeting of the Community Services Committee
held on March 7, 1977-,
1. Canada Week
It was recommended that the letter re "CANADA WEEK" be received for
information,
2. Orono Town Hall
It was recommended that
Centre, be drawn up.
3. Grant re Orono Town Hall
It was recommended that
Recreation Centres Grant
of $4,000.

4. Visual Inspection -Newcastle Arena
The letter from Totten Sims Hubicki regarding Visual Inspection of the
Newcastle Arena was received for information.
5. Recreation Budget - Capital Expenditure Items
It was recommended that the $75,000. capital expenditure item for a building
for the Recreation Department be cut from the budget and the Chairman and
Director of Parks and Recreation look for suitable rental accommodation.
It was recommended that the $23,600. Capital expenditure item for Courtice
Tennis Courts be deleted from the budget and tennis courts in Courtice be
built and funded from Grants, Lot Levie^ or other sources.
It was recommended that the $25,000. Capital expenditure item for a new
zamboni at the Bowmanville Arena be deleted and Mr. Needs obtain prices
for repairs to the present zamboni.
6. Community Centre Grant - Orono Tcnnis Club
It was recommended that the Town make application to the Ministry of
Culture and Recreation for a Community Recreation Centres Grant of $5,600.
on behalf of the Orono Tennis Club.

7. Community Centres Grant - Courtice Tennis Courts
It was recommended that the Town make application to the Ministry of
Culture and Recreation for a Community Recreation Centres Grant of
$24,000. for Tennis Courts at Courtice, subject to the money coming
from sources other than tax revenue.
8. Courtice Fire Hall Committee
It was recommended that Councillor Taylor replace Councillor Gray
on the Committee for finding a site for a Fire Hall in the Courtice
Area.
