The following is a report of a meeting of the Community Services Committee
held on January 17, 1977:
1, Heritage Committee
It was recommended to Council that a Heritage Committee for the Town of
Newcastle be appointed by by-law, composed of:
W. Bill Bagnell Forrest Dilling
Pat Reid Marie Hubbard
Jack Gordon Helen Schmid Pat MacKay
and a member of Council and member of the Planning Advisory Committee to be
named by the Mayor and that this Committee have Ad Hoc privilWges.
2. Kinsmen Bar -B -Q
It was recommended that the Kinsmen Club be granted permission to use the
Darlington Sports Centre for a Bar -B -Q and Dance on May 28, 1977, subject
to being able to obtain a liquor permit and that the rental fee be $200,
provided they assist with the clean-up operations.
3. Free Iee Time for Schools
It was recommended that the Schedule of Free Ice Time for Schools at the
Darlington Sports Centre, as presented by the Director be adopted and that
a similar schedule for Free Ice Time for schools at the Bowmanville Arena
be approved when repairs have been completed.
4.. Sign - Bowmanville Arena
It was recommended that the By -Law Enforcement Officer be asked to investigate
the legality of a sign proposed for the Bowmanville Arena and., if it is in
order,, perm'^,sion be granted to the Bowmanville Eagles Hockey Club to;display
the sign for the 1976-1977 season, the location of the sign to be approved by
the Director of Recreation.
5. Newcastle Arena
The Recreation.Director was asked to publish a notice in the Newcastle
Reporter thanking the people who helped clear the snow from. the roof of
the Newcastle Arena on January 14, 1977..
6; Fire Extinguishers - Orono Town Hall
It was recommended to Council that 2 fire extinguishers be purchased for
the Orono Town H"11 in, order to meet Fire Prevention Standards.

It was recommended to Council that they concur with thi Ree eatioR
Director assisting the Legion Flyers Track and Field Club regarding
publicity and a place to train during the winter menths.
W# Jaycees Agreement re Soper Creek Park
It wap recommended that the Hayceea meet with the Committee re Sopet
Creek Park to c -:-line their program for the coming year and to reslegotiate
an agreement for 1977 with the .own for the use of the Park.
11. O.M.&A. Membership for 19'77
It was recommended to Council that the Town renew its membership in
the O.M.R.A. for 1977 at a cost of $50. and the Committee members. Director
of Parks and Fecreation and the Secret=y of the Committee be list04 as
members.
12. Cemetery Report - November
That the following report of the Cemetery Manager of Bowmanville Cemetery
be received fcr information - November: Graves Sold - 5 $380.00
