HomeMy WebLinkAbout1975-12-15 ReportReport No. 1 Mayor Rickard and Members of Council: - The following is a report of the Community Services Committee meeting held on December 15, 1975: 1. Old Animal Control Truck It was recommended to Council that the old truck be retained for the present for use as an emergency vehicle. 2. Sale of 1976.Dog Tags It was recommended that 1976 dog tags be made available for purchase, immediately. 3. Tyrone Hall Construction Costs Itwas recommended to Council that they accept the $400. credit on the electrical work, the $500. credit on the brick work, and the fire enclosure cost of $2,196.93 from Bowman Construction with regard to the construction of the Tyrone Community Hall. 4. Fire Hall #2 Chief Hayman and Chief Glanville were advised, that if the proposed plan is acceptable, to get estimates on the cost of renovations to the whole building, including the apartment, and bring a report back to the Committee. 5. Snow Removal Fire Hall #2 It was recommended to Council that Harold Couch be engaged for snow removal at the new Fire Hall #2 at $14. per hour. 6. Retirement Gift It was recommended to Council that a retirement gift up to the value of $150. be purchased by Chairman Allin, Mayor Rickard and Chief Hayman for the Deputy Chief at Orono. 7. Schedule of Time - Swimming Pool at the Training School It was recommended to Council that a copy of the schedule of time available for use of the swimming .pool at the Training School be sent to Mrs. Higginson of the Social Planning Council with a covering letter suggesting that they apply to Mr. Fanning or Mr. Cann of the Training School if they wish to make use of the time. 8. Tots Skating It was recommended to Council that due to the poor attendance at Tots Skating at Bowmanville and Darlington Arenas, the fee be reduced to .25 per person. - 2 - Report No. 9. It vas recommended that the Regional Police be notified of the hockey game between the Swedish Team and the local team which is taking puce an January 4, 1976 and that a large crowd is expected between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. at the Bowmanville Arena. 10. J. Caruana It was recommended to Council that Joe Caruana be recognized as a permanent Staff Employee as of December 1, 1975. 11. Orono Amateur Athletic Society It was referred to the next meeting of Council to discuss if there is room in the overall Budget to accommodate $4,500. for the Orono Amateur Athletic Society. 12. Feasibility Study - Community Centre in Orono It was recommended to Council that they engage a Consultant to do a feasibility Study on this project in conjunction with representatives of that Area and report by January 24, 1976.
